《語言學習與語言教學法研究》以現代語言學理論為指導，以二語習得理論為基礎，結合心理語言學、社會語言學、套用語言學、二語習得、語言測試及計算機網路語言等相關領域的理論和套用研究成果，構建了《語言學習與語言教學法研究》的整體框架；並結合中國英語教學現狀試圖探討我國英語教學的新模式，希望能對未來的英語學習與英語教學發展方向有所啟迪。《語言學習與語言教學法研究》共分四部分，11章。一部分簡述了現代語言學習和語言教學的基本理論，教與學的本質及相互關係。論述了二語習得理論及二語習得的五個階段、教學原則和策略。第二部分論述了20世紀語言學習與教學的發展及主要教學法；論述了21世紀的主流教學法——交際教學法的理論與實踐。第三部分，由於進入21世紀，語言學習和語言教學的明顯特徵是語言理論和教學方法的多樣化。本部分從理論及實踐上研究了國內外以交際教學法為主流的現代教學法的新途徑：任務教學法、互動教學法、體驗教學法、混合教學法。第四部分是教學實證研究部分，分別選自作者的科研課題。旨在研究和探討語言學習和語言教學理論在教學實踐中的套用，試圖探索一條符合我國學生特點的新途徑。
