第6版首次加納入了在敏捷或者適應型環境中套用良好項目管理實踐的指南。各章節(或知識領域)現在有4個引導部分:核心概念、趨勢和新興實踐、剪裁考慮因素、敏捷或適應型環境中需要考慮的因素。 第6版格外重視項目管里中的戰略與業務知識方面,前三章對涉及項目管理的業務文檔進行了討論第6版增加了一個有關項目經理角色的新章節, 專門討論“PMI?人才三角”及組織對項目經理的技能組合要求, 這些技能讓項目經理更具競爭力, 並且在技術、領導能力、戰略和商業管理方面更有相關性。第6版相比5版, 增加了一個項目管理標準(美國國家標準:ASBI/PMI99-001-2017),這也是第6版比第5版增加篇幅的主要原因。 第6版內容與敏捷項目管理由密切的相關性,PMI也首次推出了《敏捷項目實踐指南》。 《敏捷項目實踐指南》中英文版將於2018年6月由電子工業出版社出版。 本書利用一種專利防偽印刷技術印刷,旨在防止未經授權擅自複製。紙張為灰色,而不是白色。複印或掃描本書頁面時,背景中隱藏的警告信息就會顯示出來。這種安全措施旨在阻止一切對本書的非法複製或偽造企圖。
