時任考文垂教區主教Cuthbert Bardsley將大學命名為the University of Warwick。
(National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth)和英國人引以為豪的國家健康系統大學(NHS University)。英國前首相托尼·布萊爾(Tony Blair)稱讚華威大學為“所有英國大學在的活力、質量和企業家精神上的燈塔”("a beacon among British universities for its dynamism, quality and entrepreneurial zeal")。
柯林頓的國家安全顧問Sandy Berger在隨後12月7日的媒體發布會上闡明了此決定的原因:“華威大學是英國最年輕和最出色的大學之一,布萊爾首相認為她是具有卓越學術水平並同時與政府保持獨立性的大學典範”("Warwick is one of Britain's newest and finest research universities, singled out by Prime Minister Blair as a model both of academic excellence and independence from the government")。
Warwick Business School
(School of Industrial and Business Studies),是一所年輕但實力卓越的國際化商學院。
