“青年千人計畫”引進海外傑出人才。2001 年畢業於北京大學，獲生物信息學博士學位。2007-2011年在美國芝加哥大學進修，在Science, PLoS Biology和Genome Research等雜誌上發表了多篇SCI收錄論文。張勇在基因組水平雄性基因的動態進化、新基因在早期發育中的作用以及新基因對於人類大腦進化的作用等方面都取得了具有突破意義的成果，刷新了學術界的認識，代表著最前沿的水平；因此，他的工作引起了學術界的極大關注。他的工作多次被Nature Reviews Genetics 、Trends in Genetics等著名刊物的關於新基因進化的最新進展的綜述所引用。
研究領域
研究領域主要集中在基因起源和丟失，由中國科學院動物研究所青年千人計畫 2011-2013資助。
