First of all, my heart-felt gratitude goes to my academic advisor at Fudan, Professor He Gangqiang. Without his generous help, this book would not have come into being. Professor He is a person with great learning and integrity. In the three years at Fudan University, I had benefited enormously from studying under him, not only in my academic endeavors but also in my outlook on life. It was him who instilled in me that a true scholar and teacher must first and foremost be a good person, and it was his unfailing encouragement, coaching, and support that have cheered me on in my Ph.D. studies and career pursuits.
