概述

RDI強調的是人際關係能力方面的動機和技巧，常以遊戲的方式進行，用簡單的活動誘發孩子的主動性和溝通的動機，拓展孩子的互動能力，強調在非語言的溝通和生活化環境中干預，確保教導的技巧具有實際交流意義，目的是要讓孩子察覺樂趣並非來自遊戲或是玩具，而是來自於與社交同伴共同分享的經驗。

“RDI是新一代的治療自閉症的方法，RDI中很重要的一件事是家長的參與，家長會協助孩子進行很多康復治療訓練，不像別的疾病，治療更依賴於醫生和專家，所以RDI不僅提供課程項目，還有家庭諮詢服務。今年我在美國接受RDI培訓的時候，發現美國自閉症家庭RDI確實做的也非常好，他們很多母親都是不工作，全身心的投入到孩子的康復教育當中。相比美國，國內確實還有不少差距。”雅恩教育邊老師說道。

RDI人際關係發展干預法最初提出主要是針對自閉症，後來經過實際套用，可以擴展到社交、情緒、溝通等方面。

RDI與結構化教學、ABA、社交技巧訓練等治療方法有許多共同特徵，但是它最獨特的標誌在於強調經驗的分享與互動。

自Steven Gutstein提出RDI以來，國際上通常採用RDI進行自閉症，社交障礙，情緒問題，溝通障礙等方面的干預和治療。在全世界範圍內，執有美國RDI諮詢顧問認證的諮詢師主要集中在歐美已開發國家。國內執有美國RDI諮詢師資格的諮詢師很少，有雅恩教育的邊瓊霞言語治療師，香港協康會的幾位高級言語治療師等人。
