Fly Me To The Moon 由巴特·霍華德(Bart Howard)應發行商創作單曲要求，創作於1954年。是首華爾茲舞曲，也是他最有名的一首作品。最初由當時他工作的酒店的駐店歌手Felicia Sanders演唱。發行商試圖將其改名為“Take Me to the Moon” 但是巴特·霍華德拒絕了。
之後這首歌被定名為Fly Me to the Moon。由佩姬·李(Peggy Lee)1960年演唱的版本成名。而弗蘭克·辛納塔(Frank Sinatra)的翻唱更是讓這首歌的名聲達到了一個無法形容的地步。美國宇航局曾把他演唱的這首歌的唱片通過阿波羅飛船送上月球，使得這首歌曲成為第一首在月球上播放的人類歌曲。

巴特·霍華德是美國著名的作詞家、作曲家、鋼琴家。通過網際網路查找，我們可以大致看到這個歌的一個不完全翻唱列表。寫了這首歌以後，巴特·霍華德老爺子基本上也就再沒有什麼事情好做了，這首歌給他帶來了巨大的收入，按照AMG的說法就是他順利進入了半退休的狀態。並且在最後在1999年他還被列入了音樂創作名人堂。
90年代的時候老爺子還說，如果當時他沒有決定把歌名改為Fly me to the moon，他不知道會過著什麼樣的生活。
這首歌是1954年由Kaye Ballard錄音，當時是以“In Other Words”之名推出。後來Portia Nelson也翻唱了這首歌，而“Fly Me to the Moon”這個名字則是Johnny Mathis在1956年推出專輯之時出現的。
現在最為人所知的版本是1964年由Quincy Jones編曲，由法蘭·仙納杜拉演唱並收錄於《It Might as Well Be Swing》這張專輯中的版本。
巴特·霍華德於2004年2月21日死於中風，享年83歲。他的同性愛人Thomas Fowler陪伴他58年，一直到他生命完結的那一刻。
