創作背景
2014年10月23日,Taylor Swift在社交網站Instagram曝光新專輯《1989》標準版完整曲目。如果說上一張專輯《Red》中“鄉村”與“流行”的分庭抗禮,標誌著泰勒·斯威夫特向“流行音樂界”的正式進軍,那么這一張《1989》則意味著她對“鄉村音樂”的徹底轉型,雖然出道後的泰勒一直被人詬病不夠“村”,但她走的卻是“穩紮穩打”的路子。從村味兒最濃的《泰勒·斯威夫特》,到“鄉樂流行化”的《Fearless》《Speak Now》,再到試水加入的電音迴響貝斯元素《Red》,泰勒可謂是步步為營[25]。每個農村出身的人,或多或少都曾有過,對城市生活無可救藥的迷戀。因此,聽眾就要理解,泰勒作為鄉樂歌手轉型成為流行樂歌手之後,在《Welcome to New York》這首描述城市燈火的歌中,所透露出的“咄咄逼人”。另一方面,如果說《Red》是她和“流行樂”簽訂的雙邊合作協定,那《1989》簡直就是一篇完整的婚姻誓詞

歌曲鑑賞
《I Know Places》的主歌是專輯中旋律最為詭異的存在,無論是開始如未處理Demo般的“I~ I ~I ~I~”,還是第一段主歌配樂中軍鼓響弦的節奏加入,都是區別於一般流行歌曲的地方,可惜副歌開始後又迅速跳回了人們熟悉的流行調調,這也不奇怪,畢竟製作人是Ryan Tedder這位大熱單曲炮製者,另外,這首歌開頭與結尾處的錄音機聲音採樣也是一個亮點,不知是不是受到了Frank Ocean 《Nostalgia, Ultra》專輯的啟發。專輯中小美女還在《I Know Places》中統一回復了各大媒體狗仔隊對她私生活的窮追猛打:這首歌講的是Taylor和他的男友們長期以來飽受狗仔隊的困擾。《I Know Places》主歌段落中奇怪的鋼琴Loop就是Swift之前作品中沒有出現過的。

So over the years a lot of people have asked me to sort of describe my songwriting process from beginning to end, how long does it take, where do you write, what are the circumstances, do you start with the music or do you start with the lyrics. And you know my answer is always that it happens differently every time and that's why I'm still so in love with songwriting. So what I've done here is shown you three different examples of, um, the beginning stages of these songs and how they each started different ways so um I'll explain them to you and maybe that'll help you understand kinda how I put songs together.
I sent this voice memo to Ryan Tedder because I'd always wanted to work with him and finally we scheduled some studio time. So...I always want to be prepared I want to send him the idea that I was working on before we went to the studio just in case he wrote back and said I can't stand that I want to work on something else, think of something else. So...um...I just set down the piano, put my phone on top of the piano and just kind of explain to him where I wanted to go with this song, how I saw the melody sitting in and um...we ended up recording this song the next day and they ended up being on the record called I know places. So this was the voice memo I sent to him the night before we ended up finishing the song.

or whatever I don't know this just...it's basically like a dark...really dark like Lear...like bridge thing and it's about like...uh...everybody is like trying to get in to...like ruin a love or whatever and it's like you just...whatever, your know. And in the chorus we just go to that major...and it's just...really like "oh" chorus...um so I hope you'll like it. It wouldn't be a piano thing, it would be like...like...very like beat. Now I'm just making weird sounds...hope you'll like it.
