創作背景
當Lady Gaga寫《Born This Way》時，她就想像這首歌是要給惠特尼·休斯頓去唱的，因為她還不夠確信自己就是歌詞中所說的那個天皇巨星。而歌曲中所包含的同性戀、宗教以及其他主題內容，則是Lady Gaga想要通過歌曲，為社會上的一些弱勢人群吶喊、發聲，捍衛他們的權利。《Born This Way》的製作過程只用了10分鐘，Lady Gaga主要負責譜寫歌詞，她表示這就像一氣呵成的變魔術一樣奇妙。

Lady Gaga在MV中扮演某異族的族母，她來到地球之後，便開始創造族群、繁衍後代（MV中出現了類似細胞分裂的場景）。但是，這些後代中不全是Lady Gaga想要的那種優良品種，也另外又出現了那個孕育出生後長大成人的男殭屍異類。這讓Lady Gaga很苦惱，本來想要的完美無缺被破壞掉了，於是用一把機關槍瘋狂掃射，試圖殺死這種異類
但是，當Lady Gaga和這些異類在一起的時候，她猶豫了。因為這些異類無論有多么不理想，那都是自己身體的一部分。再後來，Lady Gaga乾脆放棄去殺死那些異類了，與其去絞盡腦汁清除他們，不如去接受並包容他們。她裝成女殭屍，和男殭屍一起墮落，以及和一群異類一起跳舞、擁抱在一起。MV最後首尾呼應，MV畫面由倒三角變成了正三角
