陳祖煜,生於1943年2月,中國科學院院士,中國水利水電科學研究院教授級高級工程師,水利水電、土木工程專家。
1960年在上海向明中學完成了高中學業,同年考入了清華大學;1966年畢業於清華大學水利系;畢業後,曾有十餘年在水利水電的第一線從事地基處理和水庫的設計、施工工作;1979年作為中國第一批訪問學者赴加拿大Alberta大學進修,從師於著名的土力學專家Morgenstern教授;1981年返回祖國,在中國水利水電科學研究院工作;1991年在清華大學獲博士學位;2005年當選為中國科學院院士。
陳祖煜長期從事邊坡穩定理論和數值分析的研究工作,發展完善了以極限平衡為基礎的邊坡穩定分析理論得出了邊坡穩定分析上限解的微分方程以及相應的解析解將有關理論和方法推廣到三維問題的求解,使邊坡三維穩定分析成為現實可行。
