Tsinghua,Beijing——Dr. Kegui Xin, expert in Civil Engineering with international reputation, former head of Department of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, has been appoited Dean(Deputy) of School of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University. Xin has chaired the Civil Engineering Department for more than 5 years and his new appointment makes the faculties, stuffs and students excited.
One faculty of Tsinghua said the appointment of Xin is expected to enhance the School's already strong reputation and national ranking in Civil Engineering. The school's undergraduate education and graduate program both rank 1st in P.R. China. He said "Dean Kegui Xin is a promising leader with charisma, acadamic reputation and strong will. I believe that he will promote the ranking of our school around the world and contribute the Tsinghua's effert of Construction of World-class university. "
Deputy Dean Xin said his vision for the School of Civil Engineering is to promote the intercommunication overseas and keep the peer faculties to create the advanced knowledge and educate the future engineering leaders to solve humankind's most emergent and pressing problems, including infrastructure construction, project management, Sustainable civil engineering.
Prof. Ke-gui Xin was born in October 1950, Sichuan Province, China. He began his college life when he was already 23 but he made progress fast. He received his in 1977. in 1983 form Tsinghua University, supervised by prof. Yu-qiu Long (Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering). Later he earned a Ph.D. from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Prof. Xin is a most famous expert of Civil Engineering in China, outstanding researcher and educator with strong reputation. Prof. Ke-gui Xin is a legend in structural mechanism education of Tsinghua and he founded an effective method in thin-walled structure analysis. As the best student of prof. Yu-qiu Long, Xin was praised by prof. Yu-qiu Long as "good student", "good friend" and "good leader". Long said, Prof. Ke-gui Xin is not only good at acadamic research but also good at management.
