本書旨在更為清晰地闡明中國企業管理本土研究的理念定義,並概述進行這種研究的一般性的範式。本土研究要求普遍的理論與地方特定環境下解釋方法相結合,並從背景化的特殊知識和一般性的理論知識雙角度進行研究。本書研究的主要問題在於如何將普遍性理論適當結合“本土化”理論,並且這個過程中並不產生矛盾。為此,需要一種本身就具有普遍性的研究方法。通過橋接管理學理論和本土研究,本書對四個中國當代管理案例進行分析,建立一個分析框架,理解文化嵌入式的企業行為和經濟制度在歷史和當代經濟中作用的統一。
