這首歌是BTW新專輯最早面世的一首歌曲！在去年6月在Elton John的White Tie Ball上表演之後在Monster Ball表演時表示“我第一次唱這首歌的時候是被一個‘有錢人’拍攝的~這首歌將會出現在我的新專輯，你最好現在記熟這些詞因為你將會在未來的10年一直唱著這首歌”
這首歌是GaGa 在父母家裡的她的第一座鋼琴上寫的。GaGa 在The Monster Ball唱Yoü and I時表示：“I wrote this song, out of the deepest most pure, happiest place in my heart. And I don't want nothing from you; I don't want you to buy it; I don't want you to pay me anything to listen to it; I'm not even gonna put it on iTunes. I wrote this song because I wanted to write a great record. 原本這首歌的製作者（producer）是打算給Fernando製作的，但是考慮到已經負責了很多首歌，但不知道為什麼，Mutt Lange聽到這首歌表示“人聲部分非常完美”，於是乎Mutt Lange特意由Hollywood飛到Nebraska錄製這首歌。
在Today show 的表演中GaGa 講這首歌是寫關於： “我認識的最重要的人，以及我的在家鄉的朋友，Lady Starlight 和Brian，也就是在吹喇叭的那位以及我的朋友。他們很棒，經常站在我這邊，所以這是送給他們的”在Booklet上面，Brian May前面加有個Dr.（博士），歌曲中的拍掌聲是來自Queen樂隊的“we will rock you”

GaGa 在7月27日接受Amp Radio採訪時跟大家分享了一些她即將推出的 “Yoü And I”MV的一些細節。
“MV的前提是，我在幾乎嚴冬的時候，只穿了一件衣服走遍了所有路去尋找我的男人，”她說。 “所以，我沿著高速公路在行走，我的雙腳血淋淋的。這條路上有一個岔路口，我有四個不同的方向可以去，但有可能發生很多其他的事情。”
“作為一個藝術家, 種種奇怪事情的發生，要做很多事情來聯接我的過去和未來，”GaGa 補充說。 “因為我們生活在現實和幻想之間，所以才有這些奇怪的事情開始在斯普林菲爾德的穀倉中間發生。”
此外，GaGa 還談到這個音樂錄像帶希望帶給樂迷的影響，其中說道：“拍攝這個MV就是想表達你離開一個你所愛的人是多么扭曲的事實，而且這樣的感覺非常討厭，甚至當你離開你愛人的時候，你會發現自己變得非常陌生。”
