The Therapeutic Spiral Institute (TSI) offers a comprehensive training program in psychodrama to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This training is designed for health care professionals, educators, community organizers, business people, lawyers, and volunteerswho wish to learn or improve their therapeutic skills in working with people who are highly stressed or suffer from PTSD.
Training programs for 2014 are currently scheduled in the United States, Canada, China, England,Denmark, Germany, and Taiwan. Teams are also available for training in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Students who complete this two-year program will receive an International Certification in Trauma Therapy using the Therapeutic Spiral Model™.
Kate Hudgins, Ph.D., TEP, is the lead trainer and supervisor and may be assisted by one or more faculty members, most of whom are listed at the right. Excellent supervision—in-person, Skype, video, and written—is provided to maintain the highest levels of safety and learning for students in the certification program.
Thefirst partof the program is educational in nature. This highly experiential training program—presented in weekends and weeklong intensives—teaches participants how to address trauma safely with action methods. In addition, all participants have the opportunity to focus on their personal issues and to assist with others’ healing.
Level 1: These courses are best completed in one year, in conjunction with local practica and supervision.

Trainees Learn:
  • Why experiential therapy is the best treatment for PTSD, according to neurobiological studies.
  • The non-pathologizing "roles" of dissociation and trauma; how to create and assign Prescriptive Roles to promote healing.
  • Immediately useful hands-on, experiential interventions for containment, exploration, and transformation of stress and trauma.
  • The use of sociometry to create safety and authentic connection in groups.
  • A step-by-step protocol of the Therapeutic Spiral Model™ to treat PTSD in individual, group, couples, and family therapy.
  • The integration of art and ritual to assist deep healing.
  • How to develop applications specific to your community, education, or therapeutic setting.
Additionally, students must attend one personal growth workshop to complete their certification in Theory.
In thesecond partof the program, each student designs their own practica with Dr. Kate Hudgins or other supervisor to meet the behavioral demonstration of specific skill sets to be certified as a Trained Auxiliary Ego, Assistant Leader, and Team Leader.
Professional practica can be established in any setting the student works, from individual therapy to social activism. The scope of fields that trainees and trainers have chosen to integrate TSM is shown in the book, “Healing World Trauma with the Therapeutic Spiral Model: Psychodramatic Stories from the Front Lines," published in January 2013. Essentially, this means that students in the course can get certified in hospital groups, in individual therapy, in playback theatre, and in other settings.
To become a full certified Trainer of TSM requires an additional two years.

Supervision
Each student who is in the certification program must meet monthly via Skype, in person, or by phone. This can be individual or group supervision. Individual is an hour to an hour and a half. Group supervision is 2-3 hours.
Continuing education credits
Credit hours for all trainings with Kate Hudgins, Ph.D., TEP, and other certified TSM TEP's, are provided forpsychodrama certification with theAmerican Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapyand theAmerican Society for Experiential Therapists.
In addition, continuing education hours are available for addictions counselors, licensed professional counselors, and certified group psychotherapists.
Credits can also count toward the International Certification in Trauma Therapy using the Therapeutic Spiral Model.

督導

在認證過程中的每一個學員每月都必須通過skype，見面，或是電話進督導，可以是個人的督導，也可以使團體的督導。個人督導持續時間為1個小時到1個半小時，團體督導為2-3小時。

繼續教育學分

參加凱特博士的培訓獲得的學分和螺旋心理治療培訓認證的學分能用來申請美國團體心理劇治療師和美國社會體驗團體治療師的認證；此外繼續教育學分也可以用來申請成癮顧問，專業顧問執照，和團體心理治療師認證；學分還可以用來做螺旋心理治療中創傷治療的國際認證。
