Sultans of Swing 是英國搖滾樂隊 Dire Straits（恐懼海峽）的首支單曲。雖然它是在1978年首次發行，不過它在英國和美國同時取得成功卻要歸功於1979年的再次發行。

1977年7月，這首歌曲在位於 North London 的 Pathway Studios 錄音室第一次被錄製成樣本，Radio Lodon 電台將它反覆播出以後，它很快得到了回響。它很快流傳到了唱片公司管理人員手中，然後 Phonogram Records 唱片公司為 Dire Straits 提供了一份契約。1978年初，這首歌曲在 Basing Street Studios 錄音室被重新錄製進了樂隊的首張專輯 Dire Straits 中。唱片公司想為電台提供搖滾成色少一些的版本，所以1978年4月在 Pathway Studios 錄音室錄製了一個另類版本。這個另類版本在包括英國和德國在內的一些國家做為單曲發行。

這首歌曲是 Mark Knopfler 在 South London 一個酒吧創作的。靈感來自一個在酒吧一角演奏的爵士樂隊。於1978年5月最先發行，但是沒有進入排行榜。1979年1月隨著這首歌曲的再度發行，它進入了美國流行音樂排行榜。不同尋常的是，這首單曲的成功，是在1978年10月份相對不是特別出名的樂隊首張專輯發行6個月後取得的。因為這首歌曲過度激烈，BBC 電台起初不願意播放它，不過當這首歌曲在美國取得成功以後，BBC 的底線鬆動了。這首歌曲在美國和英國都進入排行榜的前10，在英國單曲榜上最高達第8名，在 Billboard Hot 100 最高達第4名，同時它也幫助專輯大賣，隨後專輯也進入了排行榜。

1988年11月，這首歌曲再次被當作單曲重新發行，一個月以後，它出現在樂隊精選專輯 Money for Nothing 中，這張專輯最高排名達第62名。同時它也被收錄在 Sultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straist 和 The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler: Private Investigations 這兩張專輯中。

這首歌曲的專輯版本廣受好評的特色是其加長的吉他獨奏，這使它排在 Guitar World 最偉大的吉他獨奏的第22名，以及 Rolling Stone 雜誌最偉大吉他歌曲的第32名。Mark Knopfler 在現場表演的時候即興和擴大表演了這段獨奏。1984年 Alchemy 專輯收錄的這首歌曲現場版本的尾段獨奏，是 Knopfler 最著名的吉他即興表演。這首歌曲的另外一個值得紀念的現場版本是1988年在倫敦舉辦的納爾遜曼德拉70周歲生日演唱會上長達11分鐘的表演，當時 Eric Clapton 和樂隊共同表演這首歌曲。

這首歌曲的母帶出現在電視遊戲 Guitar Hero 5中，做為一首可播放的歌曲。
