Johann Pachelbel (*1653 ~ 1706) was a German Baroque composer, organist and teacher. He composed a large body of sacred and secular music, and his contributions to the development of the chorale prelude and fugue have earned him a place among the most important composers of the middle Baroque era. Pachelbel's work enjoyed enormous popularity during his lifetime; he had many pupils and his music became a model for the composers of south and central Germany. Today, Pachelbel is best known for the CANON in D major, the only canon he wrote, a piece of chamber music scored for three violins and basso continuo and originally paired with a gigue in the same key; it is one of the most recognised and famous baroque compositions.

ADDITIONAL INFO about H?ndel
Georg Friedrich H?ndel (1685 – 1759)
was an English Baroque composer of German birth who is famous for his operas, oratorios, and concerti grossi. His life and music may justly be described as "cosmopolitan". He was born in Germany, trained in Italy, and spent most of his life in England. Born in Halle in Saxony-Anhalt, he settled in England in 1712, becoming a naturalized subject of the British crown on 22 January 1727. His works include Messiah, Water Music, and Music for the Royal Fireworks. Strongly influenced by the techniques of the great composers of the Italian Baroque era, as well as the English composer Henry Purcell, H?ndel's music became well-known to many composers, incl. Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.
H?ndel's compositions include 42 operas; 29 oratorios; more than 120 cantatas, trios and duets; numerous arias; chamber music; a large number of ecumenical pieces; odes and serenatas; and sixteen organ concerti. His most famous work, the Messiah oratorio with its "Hallelujah" chorus, is among the most popular works in choral music and has become a centerpiece of the Christmas season.
In music, the sarabande (It., sarabanda) is a dance in triple metre. The second and third beats of each measure are often tied, giving the dance a distinctive rhythm of crotchets and minims in alternation. The crotchets are said to have corresponded with dragging steps in the dance. Although H?ndel wrote many sarabande movements, the one included as the fourth movement in his Keyboard suite in D minor for solo harpsichord achieved mmense popularity when an orchestrated version was used by Stanley Kubrick for his 1975 film Barry Lyndon. Later, Brian De Palma featured the same orchestration as the overture for his 2007 film Redacted. Also, in another direct reference to Barry Lyndon, Michael Winterbottom included this sarabande in A Cock and Bull Story in a new arrangement by Michael Nyman.
ADDITIONAL INFO about Grieg
Edvard Grieg (1843 – 1907)
was a Norwegian composer and pianist who composed in the Romantic period. He is best known for his Piano Concerto in A minor, for his incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt (which includes "Morning Mood" starting the first suite and Solveig's Song, the last part of 2nd suite), and for his collection of piano miniatures Lyric Pieces.
Ibsen asked Edvard Grieg to compose incidental music for the play. Grieg composed a score that plays approximately ninety minutes. Grieg himself declared that it was easier to make music "out of his own head" than strictly following suggestions made by Ibsen. For instance, Ibsen wanted music that would characterize the "international" friends in the fourth act, by melding the said national anthems (Norwegian, Swedish, German, French and English). Reportedly, Grieg did not have the right temperament for this task.
