此曲由美國民謠歌手Hedy West創作，並於1961年率先發行在民歌三重唱The Journeymen(旅行者)的同名專輯中，後有日本搖滾歌神忌野清志郎改編日文版的500 miles，被松隆子和忌野清志郎本人唱過。值得注意的是，應區別於Bobby Bare的《500 miles away from home》。
The Brothers Four（四兄弟演唱組）是美國老牌民謠樂隊之一，成立於50年代末，比Beatles出名還要早。這個樂隊由四個華盛頓大學的學生Bob Flick,John Paine,Mike Kirkand,Dick Foley組成。樂隊一組就是四十多年，唱的一直都是傳統的通俗民謠 “四兄弟”合唱團的音樂大多以原聲木吉他、木貝司、班卓琴、曼駝林伴奏，並配以完美的四個聲部和音。the brothers four
