1959年紐波特民歌節的表演使她受到國人矚目。此後她又現身於大學、音樂廳、電視唱歌，並錄製了很多唱片。《破曉》（1968年）和《歌唱人生》（And a Voice to Sing With）（1987年）是她的自傳。
個人生活

與賈伯斯多伊奇曼在《賈伯斯二度歸來》一書中寫道，賈伯斯曾與演員戴安·基頓相處一段時間，還與女作家莉薩·比恩巴赫約會。
美國《福布斯》雜誌報導，賈伯斯與高中時期的女友克麗絲·布倫南生育過一個女兒。孩子1978年出生，取名莉薩·布倫南·賈伯斯，賈伯斯一度拒絕承認自己是孩子生父。
有人說人一生聽歌的趣味，會固定在十五到二十五歲的年紀。那時候聽的歌，影響人一生對歌的喜好。賈伯斯在十五歲的時候，聽的是鮑勃·迪倫，聽的是披頭士，他的iPod 中收藏了12張迪倫的專輯，7張Beatles專輯，6張 Rolling Stones的專輯，以及Joan Baez的4張專輯。

家庭狀況
在Vanguard公司出了17個專輯後，她轉入A&M公司旗下。她最不同尋常的工作就是把自己投入到不可解脫的鄉村搖滾樂的實驗中，後來，在和她妹夫Richard Farina 理察法里納的共同合作下，推出了取材於Dylan歌曲的雙唱片《我的兒子，你現在在哪兒？》（Where Are You Now，My Son？）。專輯歌手介紹：1941年1月9日Joan Baez出生在紐約Staten島上，母親是一位具有英格蘭-蘇格蘭血統的戲劇教師，父親是墨西哥-美國血統的物理學家，祖父和外祖父都曾任過大使。她的拉丁血統使她很容易掌握了西班牙語，可同時又早早地經歷了加利福利亞州的種族歧視。由於父親的工作變動，她們一家搬到了波士頓，那時她已高中畢業。一次偶然的機會，Baez在哈佛廣場看到了一個民歌演唱的場面，誘發了她對演唱和吉他演奏的興趣，使她躍躍欲試。她進了波士頓大學，學了才1個月就著手從事有關音樂、民俗學以及自學的人道主義政治方面的職業。
