1990年,黃金泉出生於山東濱州。
2013年9月—2018年12月,就讀於中國科學院植物生理生態研究所,師從陳曉亞院士,畢業並獲得博士學位。
2019年1月—2021年9月,在中國科學院分子植物科學卓越創新中心從事博士後研究,合作導師為何祖華院士。
2021年10月—2023年11月,先後擔任中國科學院分子植物科學卓越創新中心擔任助理研究員和副研究員。
2023年11月—今,擔任中國科學院分子植物科學卓越創新中心研究員。
2022年1月,入選中國科學院“青年創新促進會”會員。
2024年1月,獲得首期中國科學院“搶占制高點青年攀登計畫”項目資助。

黃金泉在植物天然產物的細胞外生物合成與調控研究中取得突破進展。揭示了根部凱氏帶區木質素的細胞外聚合和沉積機制;完整解析了棉酚的生物合成途徑,重塑棉酚的細胞外代謝並創製了棉籽低毒新材料;闡明了棉花萜類化合物的空間分布規律及調控機制。申請專利6項,其中授權專利3項,多次受邀在植物生物學大會等會議做學術報告。入選“青年托舉”、“青促會”等人才項目。
