《英語閱讀教程》（An English Reading Course for Comprehension and Speed）是一套有指導的、循序漸進的閱讀課本，供高等學校英語專科及本科一、二年級學生的泛讀課使用，也可供高等院校其他各專業、教育學院、職大、業大、電大的英語泛讀課選用。本書為衛星電視英語專業的泛讀課教材。
《英語閱讀教程》共分四冊，供兩學年使用。書中所選文章題材廣泛，內容生動有趣，練習設計精巧，利於激發學習者的興趣，同時增進對西方文化的了解。
第一冊共有課文40篇，分10個單元。每單元內容包括：1）課文4篇，每篇附有閱讀指導及檢查理解、擴大辭彙的練習；2）閱讀技能和擴展構詞知識的講解和練習；3）檢查閱讀理解和速度的測試。
《英語閱讀教程》承北京大學張祥保教授審閱，北京師範大學外語系簡文光教授和北京教育學院外文系楊友欽副教授對本書的編寫提出了許多寶貴意見。
