中國現代民族民間舞蹈大型晚會.由育才學校師生演出於1946年3月.1944年底，重慶新華社為紀念創刊7周年舉行慶祝會，從延安來的藝術團體演出了大秧歌和《兄妹開荒》等秧歌劇.那些純樸、粗獷，充分表現了解放區堅毅開朗的性格和精神風貌的舞蹈給戴愛蓮等人十分強烈的感染和鼓舞.戴隨即向延安文藝工作者學習了秧歌舞，並以此創作了小歌舞《朱大嫂送雞蛋》。隨後，在任教的育才舞蹈組作出決定：“要把發展民族舞蹈作為教學和創作的目標，首先要深入民間採集、整理、加工、改編出新的舞蹈節目，然後再回到民間去.1954年夏天，戴愛蓮同葉淺予先生以及育才學校的師生深入到川北、西康等少數民族地區，經過1年多的努力，1946年3月在重慶青年館，由中國民間樂舞研究會、中央大學邊疆研究會、西藏文化促進會、新疆同學會主辦，戴愛蓮指導，育才師生協助演出了《邊疆音樂舞蹈大會》。葉淺予先生為其設計了海報.晚會演出了《瑤人之鼓》、《嘉戲酒會》、《羌民端公驅鬼》、《啞子背瘋》、《倮倮情歌》、《巴安弦子》、《春遊》、《青春舞曲》、《坎巴爾汗》等10多個舞蹈.這是首次在中國舞台上公演了瑤、彝、羌、藏、維等少數民族的舞蹈，轟動了整個山城.隨之，在青年學生中掀起了跳邊疆舞的熱潮.
