《資本主義、社會主義與民主》是熊彼特的代表作之一，也是作者數年來對“社會主義”這個問題進行思考、觀察和研究後的集大成之作。該書探討了馬克思主義學說、資本主義未來發展以及社會主義與民主等相關問題，他所提出的“資本主義最終由社會主義制度所取代”的主張與馬克思的“資本主義必然滅亡，社會主義必然勝利”的學說不謀而合，殊途同歸。不同的是前者側重於“革新式的創造性破壞”，後者則側重於“以革命式手段為資本主義掘墓”。
作者簡介
約瑟夫•熊彼特，美籍奧地利裔政治經濟學家，在西方經濟學界具有舉重若輕的地位，著有本書及《經濟發展理論》《景氣循環論》《經濟分析史》等，提出影響深遠的理論有“經濟循環”理論、“創新”理論、“資本主義的創造性破壞”和“精英民主”理論，對經濟學理論的發展具有重要貢獻。
