農夫不聽女兒的勸說，把臼獻給了國王，希望國王能把它當成一件禮物收下。國王收下了金臼，卻說他應該把杵也一起獻出來。農夫一再解釋沒有找到金杵，國王認為他在說謊，就把他關進了監獄。
於是國王叫侍從把農夫帶來，親自詢問他這樣哭喊的原因：“你的女兒對你說了什麼呢？你為什麼一直喊著應該聽你女兒的話呢？”
