定義概述
翻譯批評（Translation criticism）是指在一定的社會條件下、遵循一定的翻譯原則、並運用一定的方法，對某一譯作所作的評價。這種評價必須避免隨意性和盲目性、杜絕胡批亂評和感想式的點評，應該在一定的理論指導下，歷史地、客觀地、全面地、系統地去觀察和分析翻譯過程和翻譯結果，必須儘可能做到客觀、科學和公正。從事翻譯批評的人必須對翻譯本身，對它的實質、可行性、原則、方法、目的、作用等基本問題有一個系統的認識。
注意事項
需要注意的是翻譯批評不只是單指批評（譯作的不足），同時也包括指出譯作的優點所在。
翻譯批評常用的理論有翻譯美學、接受美學、圖式理論、格式塔理論等。
翻譯批評的原則主要有：the author -and -reader -oriented translation criticism principle ; the source -language -oriented or the target-language -oriented translation criticism principle ; the aesthetic -oriented translation criticism translation principle ;the sociosemiotic -oriented translation criticism pricinple .

賞析批評
分四個步驟進行賞析批評：
一，Step one .analysis of the original (who wrote the text?when was it written? Where was it written ?for whom was it written ?for what purpose was it written ?how was it written ?)
二，Step two. Analysis of the translator 's purpose (what kind of translation ?why did he do the translation )
三，Step three .comparing the translation with the original (the critic's job is to consider how the translator has solved the particular problems of the source language text and also discuss the translation problems )
四，Step four .the evaluation of the translation
