史蒂芬·阿薩埃爾1957年出生於紐約。他曾就讀於普拉特學院，其作品集中表現人物形象，有個人也有群體。在阿薩埃爾的作品中，關於角色與環境的描畫處處滲透著自然主義和浪漫主義的和諧與平衡，在或暖或冷的溫和光束下呈現出鬆弛的氣氛。
2010年10月至2011年1月，佛羅里達的那不勒斯藝術博物館舉辦了阿薩埃爾個人作品展。1999年，他的個人回顧展在華盛頓州西雅圖弗萊藝術博物館舉辦。其作品曾在田納西大學的藝術畫廊、勞畫廊（亞特蘭大）、安內森畫廊（芝加哥）、阿肯色州藝術中心、紐約美術學院和阿諾特藝術館（埃爾邁拉）展出。並且作為公共收藏在查塔努加亨特藝術博物館、肯佩爾當代藝術與設計博物館（密蘇里）、哥倫布藝術博物館（哥倫布）和大都會藝術博物館（紐約）展出。自1998年以來，史蒂芬—阿薩埃爾的作品由論壇畫廊（紐約市）代理。
Steven Assael was born in New York City in 1957. Agraduate of Pratt Institute, he focuses his work on the human figure,in single and multi-figure compositions. Assael balances naturalismwith a romanticism that permeates the figures and surroundingsof his paintings and drawings. His figures are modeled in glowingrelief by gentle beams of warm and cool light.From October 2010 to January 2011, Assael's work was the subjectof a one-person exhibition at the Naples Museum of Art, (Florida).In 1999, a retrospective exhibition was held at the Frye Art Museum,(Seattle, WA). Other solo exhibits have been featured at the CressGallery of Art at the University of Tennessee, Lowe Gallery (Atlanta,GA) and Ann Nathan Gallery (Chicago, IL). His work has beenexhibited at The Arkansas Arts Center, The New York Academy ofArt and The Arnot Art Museum (Elmira, NY), and is in the permanentcollections of The Hunter Museum of Art (Chatanooga, TN), TheKemper Museum of Contemporary Art & Design (Kansas City, MO),The Columbus Museum of Art (GA) and the Metropolitan Museumof Art (New York, NY). Steven Assael is represented by ForumGallery (New York City) since 1998.
