證明了獨立元分析ICA的一個核心基礎猜想：“一比特匹配”猜想；系統提出了一維流形形狀檢測方法；原創提出了高效通用的組合圖最佳化理論算法框架：漸非凸漸凹化過程GNCCP。發表論文50餘篇（含SCI索引論文26篇），其中第一作者論文30餘篇（含SCI索引論文17篇）。獲2014年國家自然科學獎二等獎（排名第3）。
