《Irreplaceable》錄音和混音由吉姆·卡羅納和傑森·戈爾茨坦在紐約索尼音樂工作室製作。

《Irreplaceable》的創作人之一謝弗·沙美爾·史密斯在接受MTV新聞採訪時透露，最開始《Irreplaceable》其實是他為自己寫的，他是想創作鄉村歌曲，因為在創作過程中，他在想像是雪兒和仙妮亞·唐恩在演唱《Irreplaceable》。謝弗·沙美爾·史密斯是從男性的角度寫該歌曲的，但後來和一位男歌手錄製時，發現該歌曲比較適合女性來演唱，於是讓碧昂絲·吉賽爾·諾斯來演唱。但是後來，謝弗·沙美爾·史密斯又後悔了。
