鄭志明1953年10月生於上海，漢族。1970年參加工作，1976年加入中國共產黨。1987年7月在北京大學獲理學博士學位後留校任教，曾數次到美國、英國、法國、德國和義大利等國家工作。1996年晉升為教授、博士生導師，曾任?>北京大學數學科學學院副院長、北京大學副教務長等職，有力地促進了北大數學科學學院的學科發展、北大理科教學與科研工作的改革。2003年調入北京航空航天大學，擔任理學院院長、高等工程學院院長併兼任北大——北航工程研究院院長。2015 年1 月9日舉行的2014年度國家科學技術獎勵大會上，鄭志明教授主持的某項目獲國家技術發明一等獎。

現任教育部“數學、信息與行為”重點實驗室主任，兼任北京市高等教育學會副會長，北京數學會常務副理事長等職。鄭志明教授在教學科研方面具有較高造詣，曾獲全國優秀博士論文和國家教學成果特等獎。一直從事動力系統和計算複雜性理論研究，取得多項原創性成果，主持過國家自然科學基金、自然科學重點基金、博士點基金、青年基金等十餘項國家級基金，承擔多項國家“863”、“973”等科研項目，獲得教育部科技進步三等獎等多項獎勵，曾五次在歐美專業學會組織的高水平國際會議上做大會一小時的特邀報告。
曾任北京航空航天大學副校長。
成就榮譽
從事信息科學領域中海量信息系統協同性與計算複雜性理論、軟體可信性與信息安全以及實計算與動力系統等方向的研究工作。現任“Mathematics in Computer Science”和“Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering”主編(共同)，創建了算法、複雜計算和複雜系統高水平國際系列會議（MACIS），近十次擔任國際會議學術或程式委員會主席和重要學術會議各類委員會委員。承擔“973”，“863”，國家自然科學基金委和國防科工委重大專項基金等項目近20項，在國內外一流期刊發表學術論文50餘篇，著作2本，以講座教授、訪問教授或研究員身份在歐美多所一流院校和研究中心從事較長期學術交流和研究。獲首屆中國青年科技獎、省部級科技進步獎（1項）、國家教學成果獎（2項）等多項科研教學獎勵。
