English is one of the most popular languages in the world. In China, there are millions ofstudents who are learning English. When you start to learn English, you will find out that English isquite different from Chinese. It is not clever to put an English sentence, word for word, into Chi-nese. Take the sentence "How do you do？" as an example. If you look up each word in the diction-ary, one at a time, what is your translation？ It must be a wrong sentence in Chinese. Besides, that could also cause a great number of misunderstandings, if you translate （翻譯） English into Chinese word by word.
English and Chinese do not just have different sounds, and they are different in many ways. Its important to follow the rules for word order in the study of English, too. If the speaker puts wordsin a wrong order, the listener can't understand the speaker's sentence easily. Sometimes the orderof words in an English sentence is changed, and then the meaning of the sentence changes. Butsometimes when the order is changed, the meaning of the sentence doesn change. Let's see thedifference between the two pairs of sentences.
