海派經濟學，強調綜合創新的馬克思主義經濟學學派。按照海派經濟學創始人上海財經大學教授程恩富的解釋，海派經濟學是以地域來稱呼的一個學派，學術史上這樣稱的很多，主要是為了簡便。但學派是開放的，其人員並不以地域為限。若從主義角度描述，其名稱是新馬克思經濟學綜合學派，是中國化馬克思主義學界內的一個經濟學派。
海派經濟學的學術風格是海納百川、推陳出新、探求真理。提出了一系列原創性的理論觀點，比如關於公平與效率的關係上，提出二者是“正反同向交促互補變動論”。再如，“四主型”市場經濟改革觀，我們提出中國特色社會主義初級階段的經濟公式是“四主型”的：公有主體型的多種類產權改革觀,勞動主體型的多要素分配改革觀,國家主導型的多結構市場改革觀,自力主導型的多方位開放改革觀。其他的原創性觀點還有“新的活勞動價值一元論”、“市場型公有高績效論”、“一府兩系三層分類的國有資產管理新體系論”、“社會主義三階段論”、“當代全球基本經濟矛盾論”等。
海派經濟學已經形成了自己獨特的學術理論體系，也就是系統的經濟學方法、基本假設、基本原理和政策主張。這樣，也就受到廣泛的關注。
