林小苗教授於德州大學阿靈頓分校工商管理市場行銷專業獲得博士學位。在此之前,他分別於泰國朱拉隆功大學藥劑學專業獲得本科學歷及泰國國立法政大學市場行銷專業獲得碩士學位。
現任香港中文大學(深圳)副教授。

在他進入學術領域之前,曾多年於藥品及醫療行業擔任市場行銷經理。在加入於2017年9月1日加入香港中文大學(深圳)前,他曾在香港中文大學擔任副教授24年。
