《國際商法（英文教材）》用英文編寫，主要原因有三個：一是為了適應國內雙語教學的需求。多年來，我國高校的法律雙語教學往往使用國外的原版教材。但是原版書常常內容龐雜，重點不夠突出，最重要的是原版書基本不會涉及中國法律，更不會將中國的相關法律與英美法以及大陸法進行比較，而我們面對的是中國的學生，學生只學國外的法律，而根本不知中國法律在這些方面的規定，顯然沒有辦法學以致用。即使老師上課加上相關內容，書本上沒有，學生學習也不方便。所以，迫切需要一本有中國商事法律內容的國際商法教材，讓學生在學習後對國際商事法律有一個全面的了解。二是原汁原味。從理論上講，商法主要從歐洲大陸產生並發展起來，在講課時引用相關的原文，對學生理解某些商事規則的產生比較直觀，同時也能讓學生更加理解這些規則在中國是如何被引用和發展的。
