《國小英語語篇拓展教學百例》講述了：國小英語是21世紀我國基礎教育課程改革新開設的一門學科。自2001年以來，全國各地不同類型的學校逐步開設國小英語課程。為確保課程任務的實現，相關教育部門多途徑開展教師的培養和培訓。然而，在課程實施中教師匱乏的往往不是先進的教學理念和原則條例，而是符合課程理念並能將理念轉化為課堂教學實踐的課程資源和實戰技術。教材是重要的課程資源。然而，現行國小英語教材主要以辭彙和句型結構為基礎，缺乏有情景意義的語言材料，致使教與學普遍缺乏語篇意識（text consciousness）。正是基於這一現狀，我們參加了全國教育科學規劃“十一五”教育部重點課題“課程資源促進有效教學的研究與實驗”的子課題研究，並將課題確定為“基於語篇的課程資源開發與國小英語有效教學研究”。我們選擇“基於‘語篇’的課程資源開發”作為促進英語有效教學的突破點，通過讓教師掌握相應的課程資源獲得改進教學的動力，從而改變教學行為，最終為學習者在真實語境中綜合運用語言能力的發展奠定良好的基礎。
