專輯背景
2010年,哈里以個人身份參加選秀節目《英國偶像》，落選後被評審編入One Direction從而晉級，並一舉奪得了當季比賽的季軍。One Direction自2011年以來陸續發行了五張專輯，於2016暫停了幾年來的繁忙日程，進入休整期。哈里隨後簽約了新經紀公司並和哥倫比亞唱片公司簽下了個人唱片契約。哈里於2016年2月開始進行專輯的創作，中途因接拍電影《敦刻爾克》而暫停，同年年底結束全專創作。
2017年3月21日，哈里在Instragram上公布了首單《Sign of the Times》的單曲封面和曲名，單曲於4月7日發行。4月13日公布了專輯名、封面、曲目以及發行日期。專輯、單曲封面和寫真均有英國時尚攝影師Harley Weir所攝，充滿濃郁的迷幻意識流色彩。5月2日，《Sweet Creature》作為先行曲發行。5月15日，專輯紀錄片《Harry Styles——Behind the Album》在Apple Music上首播，時長50分鐘。

專輯首周銷量位居英國專輯榜第一（5.7萬銷量），位居澳洲專輯榜第一（金唱片銷量認證)，位居美國Billboard專輯榜第一 （23萬銷量）。該專輯成為Nielsen音樂自1991年追蹤唱片銷量以來，在美國首周銷量最高的英國男歌手首張個人錄音室專輯。哈里成為繼前One Direction成員Zayn Malik後，第二位首張個人錄音室專輯在發行首周均登頂英美專輯榜的英國男歌手。
