主要研究領域包括3D智慧型數位化列印、計算機三維視覺、視覺形狀感知分析與處理、視頻圖像處理、計算機互動圖形學等。主持和參與國家自然科學基金(兩項,其中因取得突出研究進展獲首批國家青年科學基金-面上項目連續資助項目)、國家高技術研究計畫863項目(四項)、中國博士後科學基金(一等)、北京市自然科學基金、南京市科技領軍人才計畫等多項國家重大科研課題。在計算機視覺/計算機圖形學領域的IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics、IEEE Transactions on IP、IEEE Transactions on CSVT、IEEE Transactions on ITS、ICCV、CVPR等國際權威期刊/會議上發表學術論文30餘篇,相關技術申請國際/國家發明專利6項。著有《3D列印:三維智慧型數位化創造》(3D Printing: Three-Dimensional Creation via Intelligent Digitization)一書。研究成果套用到國產3D影視動漫製作當中,如國產三維動畫電影《麋鹿王》中的三維形狀漸變,該卡通片獲得第13 屆中國電影華表獎優秀卡通片獎、第二十七屆中國電影金雞獎最佳美術片提名獎。
