劉新奇(南開大學教授)

劉新奇，男，南開大學生物化學和分子生物學系教授，研究方向為免疫，病毒感染和細胞凋亡的蛋白質晶體學研究。

經歷：

1994年7月畢業於中國農業大學生物學院，1994年至1999年於中國科學院生物物理研究所獲蛋白質晶體學博士學位。1999年至2004年在美國霍華德休斯醫學院（HHMI）做博士後。2004年至2007年在美國普渡大學做 Research Scientist。2008年起，應聘於南開大學生命科學學院教授。

研究方向：

我的實驗室主要是利用X-射線晶體學技術，並結合其它的分子生物學，生物化學，細胞生物學等技術從分子水平上研究蛋白質的結構和功能之間的關係。目前研究的方向主要是病原性細菌和病毒在感染人體後所引起的免疫應答過程中所涉及的分子反應機理，像先天免疫中的TLR（Toll-like receptors）通路和NLR（ Nod-like receptors）通路，以及後天免疫中的TCR-MHC通路。這些研究將會為我們如何去預防和控制這些影響人類的重大疾病（如愛滋病）提供線索。對愛滋病病毒（HIV）的致病機制和疫苗研製是我們目前工作的重點之一。另外，細胞凋亡以及相關的癌症機理研究也是我們感興趣的方向。已知的絕大部分癌症都與細胞凋亡的失調有關，對此類分子的研究將會為藥物的開發提供基礎。
