主要研究領域集中在信息檢索、網際網路搜尋技術以及自然語言處理研究方面。他是信息檢索領域知名期刊Foundations and Trends in IR創刊以來首位來自亞洲國家的主編，也先後受邀擔任信息檢索領域重要會議ACM SIGIR 2018、ICTIR2020、NTCIR-13/14程式委員會主席等學術職務。先後獲得科技部科技創新領軍人才、北京市科學技術一等獎、錢偉長中文信息處理青年創新一等獎、北京智源學者、CIKM2018最佳論文獎、SIGIR2017最佳學生論文獎、AIRS2018最佳論文獎等學術獎勵。並作為項目負責人獲得國家重點研發計畫、國家自然科學基金委優秀青年基金、重點基金支持。目前兼任中國人工智慧學會理事、知識工程與分布智慧型系統專委會副主任、中國中文信息學會理事、信息檢索與內容安全專委會副主任、ACM senior member、中國計算機學會傑出會員。
