本教材按照專題不同，將教材分為八大模組，即中西神話對比、中西宗教對比、中西思維對比、中西文學對比、中西藝術對比、中西語言對比、中西習俗對比、中西社會生活對比。教師以問題為導向進行教學，通過確定每節課的講授主題、擬解決的主要問題，形成按照主題、問題為框架的授課方式。本教材的編寫旨在建構並實踐《中西文化對比》課程的翻轉課堂教學模式與評價體系，以打破傳統的“滿堂灌”、“一言堂”的教師為主、學生為輔的單一授課模式。翻轉課堂強調學生在學習活動中的獨立性、參與性與差異性，重視學生作為獨立個體在教學活動中自主性的發揮，促進了學生對文化的理解認知和知識內化。
