這首歌是Noel 寫的，也是他在 don't look back in anger 之後第一次取代liam 作為A面歌曲主唱的歌。儘管這首歌有著和oasis其他流行的歌曲一樣的anthemic（這個不會翻譯）的感覺，也不同於第四張遭到很多評論家批評的專輯的迷幻風格。它還是得了褒貶不一的評價。
NME描述它為“一個沉悶枯燥的東西”，但是all music 雜誌描述它為“一種自覺的成熟，不同於oasis平時的奔放狂躁，一個謹慎，柔和，中速的歌曲。”
音樂錄影帶取材於傑克尼科爾森的電影 飛越瘋人院，用一些和 Mcmurphy 和Nurse Rathed 相似的角色來演。在加拿大溫哥華一個老舊的精神病院拍攝，主角是不久前在電影猜火車中走紅的蘇格蘭演員James Cunningham。不同於電影，mv是mcmurphy逃離家中，並被政府追捕開始的，最後是在一場足球賽中結束的，同時他的室友也自慶祝勝利。透過收容所的窗戶可以看到oasis，Noel對著Cunningham做了一個傻瓜（wanker）的手勢。
儘管並不確定，但也有一種流傳很廣的傳言說，這首歌是以Noel的好友 kate moss為靈感創作的。
Sunday morning call 是 Noel 第一次同時擔任A面和B面歌曲的主唱。
