創作背景

《Nemo》是芬蘭交響力量金屬樂團Nightwish的代表作之一。Nemo是古拉丁文no one的意思，也就是虛無，無名氏的意思，指沒有身份，沒有地位，沒有名字的人，不知道自己是誰，不知道自己屬於哪兒，很自閉，很沮喪，不被理解，找不到人生的目標，失去了自信，失去了方向，渴望得到他人以真誠的愛心來救助。很自卑，很孤獨的小人物。牛津字典的解釋是：無名之人。這首歌就是唱曾經歐洲飽受宗教迫害的一群異端信仰者，他們隱藏起自己，忘掉自己的名字，他們有一個統一的名字，就是nemo，無名氏。

本曲創作者，夜願樂團鍵盤手Tuomas Holopainen的解釋如下（本段來自維基百科）：

Not the fish! I cannot believe how everyone seems to be convinced it’s that. Nemo, which is Latin for "nobody," has nothing to do with the Disney film. It revolves around the feelings I have from time to time. I feel nameless and do not know who I am or where I will go. I only know my past and I long to be back there. The song is about being lost, not knowing where to go or what to do, yet desperate for everything in life. That’s not always me, but when I wrote Nemo, that’s the way I felt. Now I feel better.

“不是那條小丑魚尼莫！我不明白為什麼大家似乎都認為是在說它。Nemo，是拉丁語‘無名之人/無人’的意思，和迪士尼的電影沒有關係。這念頭在我心中無休止地重現著。我感覺自己那么渺小那么虛無，我不知道自己究竟是誰，也不知道我將去向何方。我只知道自己的過去，並企盼著回到從前。迷失、不知去往哪裡、不知目標是什麼、絕望於生活中的一切，這就是這首歌的主題。我並不總是這個狀態，但是在我創作《Nemo》的時候，我的感覺就是這樣。現在我感覺好多了。”
