糖異生( gluconeogenesis)又稱為葡糖異生,是由簡單的非糖前體(乳酸、甘油、生糖胺基酸等)轉變為糖(葡萄糖或糖原)的過程。糖異生不是糖酵解的簡單逆轉。雖然由丙酮酸開始的糖異生利用了糖酵解中的七步近似平衡反應的逆反應,但還必須利用另外四步酵解中不曾出現的酶促反應,繞過糖酵解過程中不可逆的三個反應。
