Norwegian
”Its important to us that music contains beauty, drama, contradictions and ambivalence - just as much as other art does. Listening should make one involved, and really help you create a wide spectre of colours and images on your inner canvas”.
Singer Line Blixt Ivarson has recently had here own art exhibition, while singer and composer Torhild Nigar has worked as an illustrator and stage set decorator. Joined by singer Hanne Skjønneberg, they constitute the trio Floweryard.
“Morning Mist” is their first album, to a large degree recorded live in one of Oslo’s most suited church rooms, Vålerenga Kirke. The quiet vibrations from its walls, floor and roof are carefully captured by one of todays formost sound engineers, Jan Erik Kongshaug, also responsible for countless ECM recordings. And the music really embraces a broad balance of moods and meditations. Floweryard is a gracefull garden inspired by nature. Even in the deserts of urban life, the songs of Floweryard provides an oasis of forests and grassy lands, of nightingales and daydreams. This is the real sound of “Norwegian Wood”. Imagine the radiant sun casting a soft warm glow. Experience nature basking in the pure joy of sunshine. Calm down as the sweet scent of night-blooming flowers spread. Through color and floral fragrance, the three good fairies of Floweryard weave wondrous tapestries of natural splendor. Recorded in a sanctuary, Floweryard captures a wide spectre of spiritual moods. It’s a musical voyage, providing glimpses of sunshine in bright forrest glades, of the majestic waves of the North Sea and a panorama of snowy peaks spawning clear mountain springs. Listen as gentle snowflakes dance in the moonlight to a mild, rhythmic beauty. Pause to brilliant sparkles of blinding sunlight. Feel bright cascades of Celtic sounds, as Floweryard creates a musical poetry of deep fjords surrounded by glaciers, rushing waterfalls and blooming orchards trees. Relax as tall trees moves gently in a fresh summer breeze, while graceful gulls glide down on spread wings. Floweryard gives the breath of life that we all need.

Lyrics
Path of tears
Words & Music: Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf I was wandering through the fields of memories As the winterwinds, swept through the hills When I heard a distant voice, though it came from far away And then I saw him standing there I heard the echo of a dream, an ancient lost ideal It haunts us in our sleep Envision the spring, when winter comes The seed’s still alive, hidden deep within our hearts Hold on through, this lonely path of tears You will shine, till the end of time It’s your destiny I could feel his dreams were broken And I felt the pain in his heart And then I saw his eyes, were filled with tears And I sensed his passion and his care If I only could reverse the past Your sacrifice is not in vain The battlefields have changed into peaceful scenes But I still can feel the chills of yesterday Hold on through, this lonely path of tears You will shine, till the end of time It’s your destiny
The rain
Words & Music: Ben Lorentzen, Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf Raindrops on a leaf The morning mist, cover the fields Leaves blow in the wind Carry me home, carry me home Blowing wind touch my cheek Gently speak, see me weep Cross the fields, where I seek Out of reach, that’s where I can breath I find my way here in the rain A silent friend, need not explain It comforts me, and speaks to me The rain pours down like it pours down Deep inside, deep inside of me As in a dream, I begin to see Rain pouring down, on everyone Do you cry , when I hide You feel my pain, sometimes you seem to understand I find my way here in the rain A silent friend, need not explain It comforts me, and speaks to me The rain pours down like it pours down Deep inside, deep inside of me
Winds of the northern seas
Words & Music: Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf Marjorie is holding her head high She will never tell you what she thinks She won’t reveal how empty it feels When the winds blow across her face The night can give her no space In the still of the night When there’s no where to hide She hears that restless whisper deep inside Winds of the northern seas are calling Calling her Winds of the northern seas are calling They whisper her name Winds of the northern seas are calling Hear him, hear him calling Hear him, hear him calling Still a flame is burning in her heart It is glowing shining in the dark She hears a distant voice He was the light in her life His love shines through her eyes Her name is what he whispers in his heart Chorus
Mother nature
Words & Music: Ben Lorentzen, Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf The moon, rises in the night Over the crystal waters On the velvet blue sky The sun shines beyond the clouds Down on the snow white mountains Melts the tears in my heart Let her winds blow The love of mother nature Let her rain fall And I could fall down from the sky Could sink into the sea I’ll find you waiting there for me And you will help me get to you When I am feeling blue So make these words come through For me and you And you, let me see dreams come true Gave me a brighter view I once thought I knew Then love, is our precious gift To blossom eternally For you and me Let her winds blow The love of mother nature Let her rain fall Chorus
Distant lights
Words & Music: Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf I see distant lights Through mist those shining lights Of ships sailing in the night Out of sight We’re ships in the dark We’re sailors, sailing under the stars Sharing a vision and one heart We are different worlds apart Following our guiding star See the fire in the night From the far and distant lights The break of dawn Another day is born Watch the ocean, shine as gold We are different worlds apart Following our guiding star See the fire in the night From the far distant lights I will live and learn the seas With the rolling waves I’ll drift On the wings of love I’ll ride Flowing with the tide Winds of the earth, teach me how to see Find my horizon, I’ll fly far and free Chorus
Floweryard
Words & Music: Torhild Nigar, Rolf Graf One day a tiny rose I found Left out in the cold Then I brought it with me home To linger in my song Every heart is a floweryard Where all flowers grow There it’s beauty will unfold Forever to behold Cold are the winds that blow Down on barren soil Bleak is the bluest sky When love no longer shines I lift my face up to the stars It’s getting close to night I know you will never fade I see love’s shining trail When all the flowers in my yard Lay withered on the ground There a tiny rose I found Bewildered and alone Then I brought it with me home To linger in my song
White mountains
Music: Rolf Graf Instrumental
Spring
Words & Music: Rolf Graf, Torhild Nigar, Jostein Johansen I’m dreaming but I’m wide awake All my life I have been searching Now I see – all you mean to me Since you came into my life Darkness fades, grows into day When the two of us depart I see you shining in my life I hear you whisper in the night I know you’ll always understand So I’ll give you my heart A lonely child, in an unknown world I was lost but now I’m found You reach for me, when it’s hard to see And you help me find my way Darkness fades, in the new born day When the two of us depart I see you shining in my life I hear you whisper in the night I know you’ll always understand So I’ll give you my heart Now winter is over The frost has gone away My heart’s like a flower Reaching for the light of day chorus
Hjembygd
