1985年，Spandau Ballet在Live Aid演唱會上演唱了這首歌曲。2002年，由Tony Swain和Gary Kemp重新混音，收錄於專輯《Reformation》。
2008年4月30日，這首歌曲迎來了它的25歲紀念日。2008年5月5日，百代唱片特意為其發行了全新專輯《True》，收錄了原始版本，《Reformation》中的新版，以及樂隊在1983年的巡迴演唱會中於Sadlers Wells劇場演唱的"True"和"Gold"現場版。

Spandau Ballet樂隊隊長Gary Kemp是在自己從小長大的父母家裡寫下的這首歌曲。這首流行抒情歌曲在最初發行的專輯中長達6分鐘之多，歌詞中的一部分表達了對“摩城王子”Marvin Gaye的致敬，在該歌曲錄製完成一年之後，Marvin Gaye逝世。歌曲還表達了Kemp對Altered Images樂隊歌手Clare Grogan柏拉圖式的感情，其中的部分歌詞改編自Grogan贈予Kemp的小說《洛麗塔》。
