1984年，來自芬蘭赫爾辛基的三個年輕人Tuomo Lassila（主唱兼鼓手）、John Vihervaauml（貝司手）、Staffan Straaringahlman（吉他手）組建了Stratovarious樂隊，樂隊早期的風格深受70年代傳統重金屬的影響。
而今天的Stratovarious的音樂則與過去完全不一樣，這得益於樂隊吉他手Staffan，他在後期很大程度的引入了古典音樂元素，使得樂隊擺脫僵硬的金屬四套件，而將自己的金屬作品多元化。
