澳大利亞的標準機構為Standards Association of Australian，所以很多朋友把澳大利亞認證稱為SAA認證。實際上SAA只是標準制定機構，而不頒發產品認證證書。SAA後來又改名為：Standards Australia Limited。SAA是獨立的公司，與政府沒有直接的關係，但是聯邦政府和州政府是它其中的成員。SAA和澳大利亞聯邦政府簽署了一個備忘錄，承認SAA是澳大利亞的非政府標準組織的最高組織。備忘錄也指出，標準的制定要與WTO的要求一致。因此，有協定指出當合適的國際標準已存在時，就不用制定新的澳大利亞標準。澳大利亞的標準以“AS”開頭，澳大利亞與紐西蘭的聯合標準以“AS/NZS”開頭。澳大利亞的標準與紐西蘭的標準基本與IEC一致，同時存在一些國家差異。澳大利亞和紐西蘭推行標準的統一和認證的相互認可，產品只要取得一個國家的認證後就可在另外一個國家銷售。
澳大利亞的產品安全 檢測由國家認可的實驗室--- NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) 實驗室， 或CB會員實驗室測試， 將測試報告提交各州的認證受理機構申請證書。目前，有資格受理認證申請的機構有7家（包括紐西蘭）：

SAA認證電源發證時效
開關電源屬於管制類電器強制必須取得由監控部門頒發的認可證書（certificate of approval），並且規定標識（必須打上證書號）。應當注意的是，認證程式只針對安全性而非性能或品質，除非與安全性相關。證書號的第一個字母顯示該證書由哪個州或地區頒發。打上認證公司縮寫代碼和登記證號 即為”安全標示”，例如“Q06 1232”, 表示由昆士蘭頒發的證書， 登記號為“06 & n b sp;1232 ” 。自發證日期起，三年內有效。
