Sounding something like a latter-day’s alternative version of the Chinese music, Xindu(aka New Town)'s N.T.Freak got together in 2005 while its members were in different positions. Indiedrum aka Lilmilk together with Indiebase aka VK were in a same High school. The former was in Junior while the later was a senior. Toy then was an undergraduate while Ray was studying Classic Music in another High school. And who rocked out to Eastern Hip-Hop crews like Bamboo, Phoenix Cry and Big Zoo etc. Rapping and singing in both Mandarin and English and sometimes Sichuanese (Their first language), their peaceful but ironic street rap anthems is very rare in China and made N.T.Freak bright in China's burgeoning underground Hip-Hop scenes. They issued various demos and appeared on China's first Hip-Hop website before putting out their debut Mixtape, Freak in New Town (Officious), in 2008 via Internet. They became one of the first Indie acts to gig widely throughout of the country, and several performances in Chengdu, followed the EP's release. In time, N.T.Freak caught the ear of Producer of S.H.E in Taiwan, Guangzhong Yu, who became a huge supporter of the Crew. In 2008, after they performed at Panda’s Club in Chengdu, and hit a Xindu Mono studio with Mazi, who handled production, to record their hit song of Freak in New Town. Freak in New Town was completed by 5th May 2008 and released through Internet on 8th August. By then N.T.Freak comprised original member Indiedrum aka Lilmilk (Lyrics/Production), Indiebase aka VK (Lyrics/Production), Toy (Lyrics), and Ray (Vocal). On 16th July 2008, they made a combination with the first Beatbox crew Onebeat in southwest of China, together they are called Tricky Family. Since Tricky Family existed, N.T.Freak and Onebeat shared the same manager Yiyi. On 13th December 2008, N.T.Freak put out an EP Unreleased 2007, including their very first works. On 1st February 2009, N.T.Freak’s first Freak Show EP hit song Dun Be A NERD rank into the first place on Streetvoice musicboard.

“Chinese, what makes you think Pop is authoritative? And what the fuck is wrong with Hip-Hop since you don’t even listen to it??” Said Toy of N.T.Freak.
“Music has crossings. You’ll never know it if you don’t get to know it. Classic Music and Hip-Hop, Who knows what am I gonna try out.” Said Ray of N.T.Freak.
