Mara Wilson全名MaraElizabeth Wilson 馬拉.伊莉莎白.威爾遜，出生於1987年7月24日，她有三個哥哥和一個1993年出生的妹妹。
馬拉5歲的時候，她最大的哥哥丹尼（1979年）開始出演電視廣告，馬拉也想和他哥哥一樣，隨後她也出現在了一系列的商業廣告中，其中包括德士古和美國銀行。她最早的時候是羅賓威廉士帶出來的，1993年，她出現在了羅賓威廉士的《Mrs.Doubtfire》中，該電影根據安妮.凡的小 說“Mademe Doubtfire”改編而成。在該角色中，馬拉證明了自己天才的演技，那時候才5，6歲，之後她的職業生涯越走越暢，並迅速成長為製片商爭相搶手的童星。 接下來的幾年裡，馬拉在1994年的電視劇《A Time t丨防和諧丨o Heal》中扮演了一個得了中風 的母親的小女兒，但是她的突破在 出演《Miracle on 34th Street》時期，她在該片出演了主角。

窈窕奶爸
窈窕奶爸因為精神壓力同時患上強迫症，馬拉在2001年後離開了觀眾視野，把主要精力放在了學習上 。2005年6月，馬拉從艾迪懷特音樂藝術學校畢業然後去紐約大學學戲劇，馬拉再也沒有作為主演，《托馬斯和神奇鐵路》是她最後一部電影。
2012 年，馬拉搬到了紐約，她開始作為電視台嘉賓，講自己從1993年到1997年作為童星的故事，並且在2016年推出了一本獲獎自傳叫做 where am I now(我在哪裡)，同一年客串了喜劇 Broad City。
