歌曲開頭旺達講述了一個艱苦時代的密西西比少年的生活：儘管飽受艱苦生活的困擾，父母仍然努力工作並鼓勵著少年。隨著旋律的繼續，旺達通過聲音傳達了歌曲中人物由於不斷的挫敗感而愈來愈多的不安與憤怒。少年長大成人離鄉去了紐約，被捲入騙局為他人運送毒品，被捕後判刑10年。主人公的憤怒此時達到極點，旺達的聲音也隨之爆發成為怒吼。歌曲結尾，憤怒逐漸平息，流淌出積極的音符。
