Pruitt was discovered when she was eleven years old by a producer for the band Arch Enemy, Keith Thomas of Levosia Entertainment. Her debut single, "Outside Looking In", was featured in the Disney Channel Original Movie Read It and Weep; it also appeared on the compilation album Girl Next. She covered Sister Sledge's 1979 hit "We Are Family" for the 2006 film Air Buddies and follow-up single "Jump to the Rhythm" was featured in the Disney Channel film Jump In! and based on composer Frank Fitzpatrick's theme for the film. Her debut album, No Ordinary Girl, was released on February 6, 2007. The album debuted and peaked at number sixty-four on the Billboard 200 with 14,000 copies sold in its first week of release. She is currently on tour with the Tour of Gymnastics Superstars.

Pruitt was a singer on the Radio Disney Incubator tour, a special guest opening act on The Cheetah Girls' The Party's Just Begun Tour, and the opening act for High School Musical: The Concert. She has toured with the Jonas Brothers, Raven-Symoné, Drake Bell, and Corbin Bleu. She is also a songwriter and co-wrote all of the songs on the album No Ordinary Girl, except for "We Are Family" and "Jump to the Rhythm". Pruitt has finished recording her second album Permission to Fly, she has completed fifteen tracks. It was released at Limited Too stores on July 22, and physically released on August 26, 2008.[1] An iTunes release occurred in September. Five tracks include "I Wanna Go Back", "One Love" (also the first single), "Unconditional", "I'm Gone", and "My Shoes".
