ZAIN BHIKHA於1974年生於南非的Pretoria，很早便開始了歌唱生涯。1994年, ZAIN參加了當地一家電台的歌唱比賽，於數千名入圍者中拔得頭籌。這次成功促使他完成了個人第一張專輯“A Way of Life”(1994)。他的聲名由此遍布南非穆斯林社區。隨即ZAIN又相繼推出“Praise to the Prophet (saw)”(1996)，“Fortunate is He” (1997)以及 “The Journey”(1998)。 這一系列成功很快引起外界關注。很快，著名穆斯林歌手YUSUF ISLAM（就是活躍於七十年代的英國流行音樂巨星（CAT STEVENS）在聽了他的專輯後邀請ZAIN來倫敦與他共事。Zain是Nasheed派(一種伊斯蘭歌唱方式)的開拓者，在他之前還沒有人用英語演唱伊斯蘭歌曲，作為第一個用英語演唱伊斯蘭歌曲的歌手，他為許多其他的伊斯蘭表演藝術家打開了一片新的天地。
